Role description

You will contribute to the success of the business by working jointly with the Director of Finance in the preparation and analysis of the company’s financial information.

The incumbent’s responsibilities will be to :

  • Active participation in budgeting process
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages
  • Performing analytical reviews of the financial statements
  • Participating in the preparation of quarterly financial statement  and regulatory filings (10-Q, 10-K, Proxy Statement, press release)
  • Preparing quarterly financial statement support schedules
  • Preparation of stocked-based compensation accounting support
  • Active participation in monthly close processes:
  • Supporting external advisors in the preparation of corporate tax returns and SR&ED tax credit claims
  • Assisting external auditors and advisors in review, audit and controls testing mandates
  • Maintaining financial models for internal projections and large capital-intensive projects
  • Documentation and continuous improvement of financial processes in a SOX environment
  • Completing financial analyses and financial models to aid in new project investment, pricing decisions and assessment of associated capital requirements
  • Preparing presentations or supporting materials with the VP Corporate Development and CFO with respect to special projects
  • Assisting with capital raising to support the company’s commercialization plan (equity and debt markets, and government financing)
  • Supporting the VP Corporate Development and CFO with creating and managing new and existing partnerships and Joint-Ventures to execute the company’s strategic plan
  • Developing and maintaining data rooms for due diligence processes

Experience and abilities required

  • CPA designation
  • 2 to 4 years of accounting or audit experience
  • Strong financial modeling and analysis skills
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Powerpoint
  • Experience with U.S. public companies (ideally US GAAP, SEC)
  • Ability to work independently and within a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills in English and in French
  • Solid work ethic, results oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and consistently deliver on time with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to organize and track overlapping tasks and assignments with frequent priority changes
  • Ability to work under deadlines while maintaining effective communications and interactions with team members
